History

Since co-founding LiberatED in 2015, Clintel Hasan has become the primary leader and face of the organization’s national work in equity, culturally relevant pedagogy, and social justice. Over the past decade, LiberatED has partnered with school districts, nonprofits, and universities across the country—supporting superintendents and CEOs through equity-centered leadership coaching, facilitating large-scale professional learning for K–12 educators, engaging higher-education leaders in dismantling systemic racism, and guiding strategic planning for organizations striving for more just and inclusive outcomes. Alex, a former co-founder, now works full-time as an employment discrimination and civil rights attorney in Minneapolis.

LiberatED has been honored to learn from great organizations, craft dialogues that lead toward justice, and work alongside dedicated schools and leaders. We work to translate these lessons and relationships into changed lives at every level of organizations and communities. We’d love to share what we’ve learned with you and build a relationship that will impact your community.

The Team

Co-Founder/CEO/Lead Consultant

Clintel Hasan (she/her/hers)

Clintel Hasan is a Milwaukee native whose commitment to social justice and community rooted leadership has shaped more than a decade of impact in education and youth development. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison with degrees in Sociology and Gender and Women’s Studies, Clintel began her career as a 2012 Teach For America Milwaukee corps member, teaching middle school English Language Arts while earning her Master’s in Educational Policy and Leadership from Marquette University. There, she witnessed firsthand the transformative power of culturally relevant pedagogy and grounded her practice in liberatory, student centered approaches.

Clintel joined Teach For America’s Teacher Leadership and Development team in 2014, where she coached more than 80 educators across Milwaukee’s public, charter, and choice school sectors. As Director of Leadership Development, she expanded regional instructional support systems, led strategic planning efforts to align teacher development with community needs, mobilized the alumni network toward collective action, and guided the region’s work on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

After five years with TFA, Clintel joined The Greater Milwaukee Foundation as the Milwaukee Succeeds’ Strategic Initiatives Manager, where she led K-12 strategy, co founded the Youth Forward MKE Coalition, and designed the Youth Adult Equity Assessment — an innovative tool used across the city to evaluate organizational structures, policies, and practices through a youth led equity lens. In this role, she managed multi stakeholder coalitions, secured philanthropic investment in youth leadership and college and career readiness initiatives, and developed ecosystem wide strategies that elevated youth voice in decision making.

Clintel partners with organizations, foundations, and cross sector coalitions to strengthen leadership capacity, build human centered systems, and guide teams through liberatory approaches to organizational development. She designs and facilitates learning experiences that center belonging, accountability, and shared power, and she supports leaders in navigating change with clarity, courage, and equity at the core. Whether working with executive teams, emerging leaders, or community based organizations, Clintel brings a strategic, relational, and deeply grounded approach to helping people and systems grow toward their highest collective purpose.
